I’m Moving!

To help streamline things and make it less confusing for me trying to keep up multiple blogs, I’m merging this 365 project blog with my main blog, The Journalings of a Julius.

Look for all of my 365 photo posts there now…be sure to update your readers and subscriptions if you want to continue following!

See you soon over at The Journalings of a Julius!

1.5.11: Lots & Lots & Lots

So, this jar doesn’t really have a TON of black-eyed peas in it, but there are lots of them!

1.4.11: Plastics

This is Mikayla. She is the daughter of one of my college roommates that we have the pleasure of babysitting every so often! I had to use the flash on this one because there wasn’t enough light in the room, but she’s still so cute chewing on a plastic toy!

1.4.11: Metallic

This is another decoration on the table at Bible study. Lost of glitter!

1.4.11: White

Tuesday is our weekly women’s Bible study at work, and every week one of the small groups brings snacks and decorates the table. I love taking photos of the elements they use on these gorgeous tables. This past week the group created a “winter wonderland.”

1.3.11: Exhibit

I’m working on adding a photo gallery to my dad’s website and went to take a few photos of some more recent work he’s done at a local country club golf course. This image is a great exhibit of the work he does (custom cabinetry)!

1.2.11: Comfort Foods

This is meatloaf (if you can’t tell). It’s actually the first time I’ve ever made it. I would call it a comfort food, especially when it’s just out of the oven and still steaming!

1.1.11: Renewal

So, I’m starting another 365 photo project this year.  It’s a little bit different than last year’s in that I don’t have to actually take a photo EVERY single day.  Instead, there’s a list of 365 “themes” to capture throughout the year.  Of course, it’s easier to try to do one per day, but sometimes, there just doesn’t seem to be anything to photograph, so I like the concept of this particular 365 project.  For more information on this particular project, click here.

One other thing I want to change this year is to challenge myself to post only square images.  I want to challenge myself to see outside of the usual rectangular camera frame this year, so look for my square images throughout the year!

Here’s my first image of the year, the theme, “Renewal.”

P.S. If you’re looking for the last four months of my 2010 365 project, stay tuned!  They’re coming soon!

August 31

This is another photo I shot for the Perspective photo challenge.  It’s actually the same building from yesterday, but from a totally different perspective!

August 30

Today’s photo is one I shot for a photo challenge.  The theme was perspective.  I caught this reflection as I was leaving work today.  I love the colors of the late evening sun and how the water distorts the building.

August 29

Here it is, the last weekend of August and we FINALLY make it to the beach for a few hours.  In my defense, most of the summer hasn’t exactly been beach weather!  It’s been a bit on the chilly side (for summer anyway), until just a week or so ago.  Of course, that means we’re going to have an “Indian Summer” where it’s hot all the way into October and November, so there’s plenty more beach-going opportunities ahead.

It was actually a really nice, relaxing day at the beach!  We used our new “camping” chairs for the second time in as many days (they’re going to come in handy now that we have them!).

August 28

Throughout the summer, you’ve been seeing lots of photos on Saturday of our evenings after church, at “Saturday Night Fever.”  Tonight’s event was pretty much the highlight of the summer – a Tyrone Wells concert on the grass.  It was cool (cold, even) weather and just a totally relaxing evening.  A great way to end the summer (there are a few days left still, right?).

August 27

Told you I’ve been cooking new meals a lot this month!  Today’s as a corn-mushroom risotto (with bacon).  It was really good, though a little on the sweet side.  Next time I make it, I’m adding more bacon, and I’m not using a corn broth (that should help with the sweetness a bit).

August 26

We had a meeting at church tonight for our Halloween event.  Driving home, we saw the moon rising in the east.  I’m not sure if it was a full moon or not, but if it wasn’t, it was pretty darn close.  It was big and orange and there were these thin lines of clouds and it was just calling out to be photographed.

Unfortunately, the awesomeness that my eyes saw didn’t quite translate into a photograph.  I think it is, in part, because I couldn’t stand in the middle of the street to take the picture.  No photograph, however awesome, is worth risking my life.  I had to shoot it from the sidewalk, so there were some objects in my way to really get the shot I was hoping for.  I hope the idea/concept comes across, at least!

August 25

More about Whitney’s invitations.  Yep, I love them that much!

These are the papers we used for the invitations.  I love the colors and the patterns so much I hope to buy one of the stacks of cardstock from her that we didn’t use.  I want to make a scrapbook out of these designs!  So fun!

August 24

Whitney’s invitations are done!  And they are so adorable!  I just love the contrast of the rustic paper and feminine lace and buttons!  They fit her and her wedding theme so well.  I just hope everyone else loves them as much as I do!

August 23

For the most part, my new dinners have been quite a success.  Unfortunately, today’s brought mixed results. Chicken was good.  Rice, not so much.

August 22

Ande has found several weird places to sleep today.  For some reason, she loves laying on plastic bags and/or paper.  In this case, she has found one of my organizational baskets to sleep in.  She’s a big cat.  The basket…barely a fit…definitely not a comfortable one!

August 21

Jillian is becoming quite popular on this 365 journey.  It’s probably because 1) she’s cute and 2) she does some really weird things.  Today’s photo is an example of the latter.  When I got home from work, I saw her laying on her cot (yes, it’s hers) chewing on stick about as long as her.  I’ve seen her chew on branches and tree bark before, but nothing this long before.  Apparently it has lots of fiber or something!

August 20

I’ve been trying lots of new recipes recently thanks to my cooking magazine subscriptions.  This may not be the healthiest recipe, but it sure was good!  When bacon and toasted almonds are involved, how can you go wrong?

August 19

Whitney’s getting married in just over two months – October 22 to be exact.  I have the pleasure of making her totally fun and unique wedding invitations, complete with buttons and lace!

August 18

I’ve been trying to eat more green foods recently.  These are some of the new veggies I’ve tried…sugar snap peas (YUM!) and squash (ehhh…depends on the type).

August 17

It’s thunderstorm season here in California…well, in the deserts and mountains.  We get some awesome cloud views, though (not a fan of the humidity that comes with it though!).

August 16

This is another one I shot for the photo scavenger hunt.  I like the way the light is reflecting on the colored earrings behind the mostly silver, clear and black ones.  It’s kind of funny I have so many earrings because I almost never wear them!
